A great lover of historical fiction, my characters and their worlds have always been centered upon bygone ages with sexual content elusive at best. After being asked by two of my buddies (this was when I first began showing my writing to others) if I had forgotten a few pages in my story, I laughed, explaining I never wrote detailed sex scenes. Their interest to read my stories in all their entirety—sex and all—set something wild off in my imagination. No, I'd thought to myself, I have never been one to include in-depth sex passages in my books. But that does not mean I couldn't write a story whose sole premise was to deliciously evoke the body as well as the heart and mind.

 

Realizing this idea would offer my friends something I had not felt it necessary to supply them with before, I immediately set out to develop the single torrid novel I had conjured up some years before. A Diamond for a Baronet was the end result. However, like most of my books, it evolved into something more than just a single novel written for fun. During its progress I became intrigued by the other characters surrounding the hero and heroine of the novel. As I worked out their own backgrounds, I acknowledged they too would need their stories told. And so, an torrid series was born. So far The Quiescent Heart series contains two books with three more in the works. But this is not a set number. Who knows what other characters will pop-up while creating the remainder of the series, begging, demanding, for a moment in the glorious spotlight.
